Great News! No more snow and ice at Our Chalet!
27 January 2012
Today WAGGGS has approved a long anticipated request for purchase of the Multi Purpose Vehicle representing a vital piece of equipment for the maintenance of the Our Chalet grounds.

The needs for such a vehicle have been identified and expressed often but with this years' increased snow falls it was a key moment to step into action and finalize the purchase. |
As Our Chalet is located in pristine nature the maintenance needs are various and often physically very demanding, ranging from snow and ice clearing in winter to grass cutting and paths restoration in summer. All these jobs were until now done by hand so we are confident the new machine will enable us to tackle various challenges much more efficiently end stress free. Jobs that used to take up to a half day now take only five to ten minutes!
Grounds and maintenance area at Our Chalet is run by two people. A World Centre Manager who supervises and plans projects and the Grounds and Maintenance Assistant who is responsible for the day to day hands on jobs indoors and outdoors.
Christoph, our Grounds and Maintenance Assistant is overwhelmed, these are his words about the news:
|
This is the best day of my life - you won't believe how much difference this will make to me. No more shoveling all days long! |
Very generous donations from World foundation for Girls Guides and Girl Scouts, Friends of Our Chalet England, Friends of Our Chalet Scotland, Friends of Our Chalet Norway and Girl Guides of Canada enabled us to purchase this valuable piece of equipment. We are very grateful for their support!
