Rover Week 2008

24 February 2008

Rover Week 2008 was a Winter Activities Week for Male and Female Rovers aged 18-25 years. Attended by 50 Rovers from 14 countries it was truly an international event! The week was based on a patrol system where the Rovers helped with the running of the Chalet and a service project in exchange for an inexpensive week in the snow.

The activities during the week included six day and evening programmes. During the day guests enjoyed three days of downhill skiing, a snow shoe hike to Bonderlen, a tube ’n’ hike day to Engstligen falls and a day of Cross Country skiing in Boden. Rovers also enjoyed a night cinema Swiss evening, night hike, a night on the town and night sledging!. The Rovers also engaged in several service projects at Our Chalet, including building new campsite benches, and in the general community of Adelboden.

Rover Week ended with the First Annual Rover Ball. All of our guests attended in formal wear looking very different to their normal ski wear! The night started with a buffet dinner before commencing the evening of entertainment with a rendition of Mama Mia from Our Chalet Staff! A karaoke competition ensued and carried well into the night! Various styles of dancing and singing were displayed, and entertained by Pluto’s bar, and a great time was had by all! Overall the week was a fantastic event and we hope to see them all again next year!

Rover Week 2009 has now been opened to males and female members of WAGGGS and WOSM aged 18 to 30 years for a cost of CHF 399 per person. For more information please read our brochure
